Virgin Media Search |
Virgin Media’s search is a search application that leverages the power of the pre-eminent Google search engine. When a user enters a search term, a query is then made against the Google API and a set of results are returned. Amongst the search results are a set of selected advertisements. When a user clicks on an advertisement revenue is generated for Virgin Media. An additional set of results are returned from a Virgin Media API of companies who pay directly to advertise on this application. These are known as shortcuts. These shortcuts are then displayed in addition to the organic results and ads from the Google API. The shortcuts are managed by the ad accounts department using a CMS. Several filtering options are available including viewing results only contained within selected Virgin Media Websites.
